Ultra's servers support the most popular server-side and markup languages used in modern web development. All plans include PHP with full support for PHP 7.x and 8.x, OPcache enabled by default, and configurable php.ini settings through cPanel. Looking for server-side JavaScript? Perl is fully supported on all Ultra servers for CGI scripts, legacy system integration, and task automation. Our environment includes commonly used Perl modules and you can install custom ones for more advanced use cases. Perl scripts run securely through our configured CGI-BIN environment with proper permissions and suEXEC execution.

SSI (Server-Side Includes) is enabled on all hosting plans, letting you embed dynamic content like headers, footers, timestamps, and file includes into static HTML pages. Apache processes SSI directives before the page reaches the visitor, making it a lightweight way to keep consistent elements across a site without needing a full CMS.

XML parsing and processing is fully available through PHP's built-in extensions including SimpleXML, DOM, and XMLReader. This covers RSS feed generation, SOAP web services, data interchange with third-party APIs, and sitemap creation for search engines.

HTML5 is fully supported. All Ultra servers are configured to properly serve HTML5 content with correct MIME types for audio, video, SVG, and web font files. Combined with our Nginx reverse proxy, HTML5 websites and web applications load quickly with proper caching headers and gzip compression.

Databases & Developer Tools

Every hosting plan includes MySQL databases powered by MariaDB, offering high performance and full compatibility with WordPress, Joomla, and virtually every PHP application.

phpMyAdmin is included with every cPanel account and gives you a visual interface for managing your MySQL databases. You can create and modify tables, run SQL queries, import and export data, and manage user permissions right from your browser without touching the command line.

cURL is enabled on all Ultra servers, letting your PHP applications make HTTP requests to external APIs, payment gateways, social media platforms, and third-party services. Both the cURL command-line tool and the PHP cURL extension are available.

GD Library is available on all servers for server-side image processing. Use it to generate thumbnails, add watermarks, create CAPTCHA images, resize uploaded photos, and produce dynamic charts or graphs from within your PHP applications.

We support IonCube Loader and Zend Guard for running encoded and licensed PHP applications. Both loaders are pre-installed across all servers and compatible with multiple PHP versions.

OpenSSL is available on all servers for cryptographic operations, secure API connections over TLS, certificate signing request generation, and encrypted data handling within your applications.

CSV Processing is fully supported through PHP's built-in functions including fgetcsv, fputcsv, and SplFileObject. This makes it easy to build import/export features, process data feeds, or generate downloadable reports from flat-file data.

WordPress is by far the most popular and gets its own optimized hosting tier with Nginx caching, automatic updates, and one-click installation through Softaculous. Joomla is fully supported for users who prefer its flexible framework and extensive extension library. Drupal is available for enterprise-grade content management with advanced user permissions and content workflows.

Xoops is a modular, object-oriented CMS for building community-driven web portals. It features a robust module system, granular permissions, and theme support. Xoops can be installed through Softaculous on any Ultra hosting plan.

2Checkout (Verifone), now part of Verifone, provides international payment processing with multi-currency support, global tax compliance, and subscription billing. Their hosted checkout and API integration both work seamlessly on our hosting platform.

vBulletin is a licensed commercial forum platform with advanced moderation tools, a plugin ecosystem, and CMS integration. Ultra's servers meet all of vBulletin's PHP and MySQL requirements, and our support team can help with installation and configuration.

AWStats is available through cPanel on every Ultra hosting account. It gives you server-side log analysis with detailed visitor statistics, bandwidth usage, search engine referrals, HTTP error reports, and geographic data. Since AWStats processes server logs directly instead of relying on client-side JavaScript, it catches traffic that browser-based analytics tools miss, including bot visits and users with JavaScript disabled.

OpenX (phpAdsNew) is a self-hosted ad serving platform for managing your own advertising campaigns. It tracks impressions, clicks, and conversion rates, supports zone-based and targeted ad delivery, and gives you full control over your ad inventory without relying on third-party ad networks.

Link Directories are supported for SEO and directory management. Ultra supports Gossamer Links, a Perl-based directory management system with paid/free listings and advanced templating. We also support PHPLinks and NewPHPLinks, both PHP-based directory scripts for building categorized web directories with search, submission forms, and admin review workflows.

Classifieds, Real Estate & Niche Applications

Noah's Classifieds is an open-source classified ads platform for building listing-style websites similar to Craigslist. It supports categories, user registration, image uploads, search filtering, and ad expiration management. It runs on PHP and MySQL and can be installed on any Ultra hosting plan.

Open-Realty is a content management system designed specifically for real estate professionals. It manages property listings with photos, virtual tours, agent profiles, and client inquiry forms. Features include map integration, advanced property search, and MLS-style listing management.

Everyone.net email services can be integrated with your Ultra hosting account for branded business email. This gives you an extra option beyond the Horde and Roundcube webmail clients included with cPanel.

Web Design Tools

Our hosting works with websites built using popular web design applications, both current and legacy. You can deploy your site to Ultra's servers using FTP, SFTP, or the cPanel File Manager.

Adobe Dreamweaver remains in active use for visual HTML and CSS editing, responsive design, and site management. Sites built with Dreamweaver deploy seamlessly to our servers, and Dreamweaver's built-in FTP/SFTP client connects directly to your Ultra hosting account for one-click publishing.

Microsoft FrontPage sites are still fully compatible with our servers. FrontPage Extensions are no longer required for modern hosting workflows, but existing FrontPage-built sites work without modification. If you're doing ongoing development, we'd recommend migrating to a current editor like Dreamweaver, Visual Studio Code, or the Weebly site builder included with your hosting plan.

Adobe GoLive was discontinued back in 2008, but sites originally built with GoLive are fully supported on Ultra's servers. The HTML and CSS output from GoLive works fine with any modern web server, and you can maintain these sites using any standard text editor or FTP client.
